HARRY’S STORY - CASE STUDY. INTERVIEWER / WRITER / DESIGNER

CLIENT. AGE UK EAST SUSSEX

BRIEF. Tell the story of Harry, an older man navigating rising living costs, health challenges and increasing digital barriers, and show how Age UK East Sussex provides person centred support to help older people stay independent and connected.

APPROACH. This project was built around careful listening, trust and respect. I interviewed Harry, giving him the space to speak openly about his experiences, concerns and day to day life.

The focus was on clarity, dignity and accuracy, ensuring the story reflected his reality without exaggeration or intrusion.

Alongside the interview, I photographed Harry in his own home to support and humanise the written narrative. I wrote the copy to be clear, accessible and inclusive, allowing Harry’s voice to lead throughout.

The final document was designed in line with Age UK’s brand guidelines, with a calm, readable layout that reflected the charity’s values and approach to support.

OUTCOME. The story helped Age UK East Sussex communicate the real impact of its Information and Advice services in a clear and relatable way.

By centring Harry’s lived experience, the piece highlighted how patient, human support can make a meaningful difference to wellbeing, independence and peace of mind.
